Reunion Island can be visited all year round, but the experience changes with the seasons. Located in the southern hemisphere, the island has seasons that are the reverse of Europe’s.

Austral winter: May to October

  • Drier and cooler: around 20 to 26 °C on the coast, much cooler at altitude.
  • The best time for hiking, the cirques and the volcano.
  • From June to October, humpback whales come close to the west coast: an unforgettable sight.
  • In October, the Grand Raid, the legendary race across the island.

Austral summer: November to April

  • Hot and humid: 28 to 32 °C on the coast, with sometimes heavy showers, especially on the east coast.
  • The sea is at its warmest: ideal for the lagoon.
  • Fruit season: lychees from late November to January, mangoes and pineapples.
  • From about January to March it is cyclone season. The risk is real but the island is well prepared: follow the authorities’ instructions if an alert is issued.

And in Saint-Denis?

On the north coast the climate is pleasant all year round, with more heat in summer. Nights stay mild: all our rooms are air-conditioned.
